Northern Hokkaido 5–6 Day Private Charter: Asahikawa, Sounkyo, Biei & Furano
The key is to stay in the north
A practical Northern Hokkaido charter should not keep returning to Sapporo from Asahikawa. Staying in Asahikawa, Sounkyo or Furano allows Asahiyama Zoo, Sounkyo, Biei and Furano to connect naturally.
5-day classic route
Day 1: New Chitose Airport → Sapporo. Day 2: Sapporo → rest stop → Asahiyama Zoo → Sounkyo, about 220–250 km and around 9 hours. Day 3: Sounkyo area → Ginga and Ryusei Falls → lunch → Asahikawa, a lighter driving day. Day 4: Asahikawa → Biei Patchwork Road → Shikisai-no-Oka → Blue Pond / Shirahige Falls → Sapporo, about 200–240 km. Day 5: Sapporo → New Chitose Airport.
6-day slower route
Day 1: New Chitose Airport → Sapporo. Day 2: Sapporo → Asahiyama Zoo → Asahikawa. Day 3: Asahikawa → Sounkyo → Ginga and Ryusei Falls → Asahikawa, about 150–180 km. Day 4: Asahikawa → Biei → Shikisai-no-Oka → Blue Pond → Shirahige Falls → Furano, about 120–160 km. Day 5: Furano → Farm Tomita in flower season or another seasonal attraction → Sapporo, about 130–170 km. Day 6: Sapporo → New Chitose Airport.
Seasonal adjustments
The six-day version is especially suitable for flower season, photography and families. Outside flower season, replace Farm Tomita with attractions that suit the actual season. Winter Biei and Sounkyo routes need additional road-time buffers and may require fewer stops.
Operational note
Long-distance days intentionally include fewer attractions so driver breaks and real road conditions can be accommodated. Distances and hours are approximate planning values; the licensed transport company confirms the final operation.
